There are a couple of fine tabs out there for the 6-string version on this piece, but not a
single tab for the bass--or I should say I have not been able to locate a bass tab for this
one on the net as of yet. The only reference I used to piece this bass tab together was the
actual recording.

I became a HUUUUUUUGE Alice Cooper fan after School's Out was released. I was just beginning
high school when the album hit the stores. Anyone should be able to detect the references to
punkish, high school mentality on this album, spiced with a hint of West Side Story for good
measure. No doubt that 1972 and School's Out was Cooper's finest hour.

Once again Dennis Dunaway unleashes his axe to slay the unexspecting! I gotta tell yas. I
swear sometimes the band will be playing in one chord/key while Dennis is off meandering
somewhere and playing in another! A great number of his lines on all their albums are almost
impossible to weed out to perfection due to the tonal contrasts from what everyone else is
doing. Some lines might even sound sour to the untrianed ear, but the lines somehow fit none
the less and this is what makes Dennis a BASSMASTER and not a lamer like me.

Following is my interpretation of Dunaway's line to Public Animal No. 9. It is a kick-ass tune
and I apologize now for butchering it. I included some lyrics so you can better determine where
you are at in the song. I do not claim this tab is 100% perfect, but like most all tabs out
there for any instrument, it is pretty darn close. And there is always room for improvements.

NOSTALGIC TID-BIT OF THE DAY:
-----------------------------
For those of you CD-boomer/beginning bassist who weren't even born until Operation Desert Sheild,
and honestly believe there was never such a thing as an LP, the earlier School's Out albums came
complete with a pair of panties inside! Some have claimed their pair was yellow or pink. Mine
were blue. :o

Here is one of Dennis' meanderings. I would bet my neighbor's last pair of blue panties
that Dennis is playing this line for this last half of the guitar solo.

D|--------3--------------------------3-------4-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-------3-------4-6-4---

For the ending and fade-out you can play the following riffs over and over at whatever
intervals you might care to. Just listen to the song for exact changes.
G|----------------------------------
D|----------------------3-3---------
A|-----3---3-5------3-5-------5-----
E|---5---5--------5-----------------

G|----------------------------------
D|------------------3-3-------------
A|---3---3---------------5----------
E|-5---5---3---2-3-5----------------

G|----4----5----4-------------------
D|--0---0----0-----0----------3-3--- I do believe Dennis invented disco
A|----------------------0-3-5-----5- with the first 7 notes on this riff!
E|----------------------------------

Done.
