Wrong code.
If you use your index, middle, and ring fingers, plus your pinky,
you won't have to shift your hand that often. Also, you might
notice a pattern, because the bass is symetrical. So, you can
play a major scale, on any note on the fretboard, as long as you
keep the same pattern. However, the major scales involving
open notes, such as E,A,D and G, have a slightly different kind
of pattern. Here are just some of the basics:

C major
|------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------7---9---10----------------------
|-----------7---8----10----------------------------------
|--8---10------------------------------------------------

OR

|-------------------2---4--5------------------------------
|---------2--3---5---------------------------------------
|--3--5------------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

D major
|--------------------------4-----6---7--------------------
|------------4----5----7---------------------------------
|---5----7---------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

OR (invovles the open note D)

|-------------------2----4-----6-----7---------------------
|--0----2---4----5---------------------------------------
|----------------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

E Major
|-------------------6--8--9-------------------------------
|--------6---7--9----------------------------------------
|-7--9-------------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

OR (involves the open note E)
|------------------------------------------------------
|----------------------------2-------------------------
|----------------2---4---5------------------------------
|--0---2--3---5-------------------------------------------

F Major

|------------------7--9--10---------------------------------
|---------7--8--10----------------------------------------
|--8--10------------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

OR

|-----------2--3---5----7---9--10-----------------------------
|--3---5------------------------------------------------
|----------------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

G Major

|------------------------------------------------------
|-----------------2--4---5-------------------------------
|--------2--3--5----------------------------------------
|--3--5-------------------------------------------------

OR (invloves open note G)

|--0--2--4--5--7--9--11--12-----------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------
|----------------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

A Major

|------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------4--6--7----------------------------
|----------4--5--7--------------------------------------
|----5--7-----------------------------------------------

OR (involve open note A)

|-----------------------2-------------------------------
|--------------2--4--5-----------------------------------
|--0--2--4--5--------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

B major

|------------------------------------------------------
|------------------6--8--9-----------------------------
|---------6--7--9---------------------------------------
|---7--9------------------------------------------------

OR

|-----------------1--3--4---------------------------------
|--------1--2--4-----------------------------------------
|--2--4----------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------------

And then you can go back to the C major scale, and bore you mind
out.

Correct me if I'm wrong on anything.
