"You Dreamer" by Big Country
From the album "Why The Long Face"

Tabbed by Colin Dawson; colin_g_dawson@hotmail.com

All the studio versions of "You Dreamer" have been mastered at the wrong
speed, and as a result end up in Fm instead of Em. This is something common
to many Big Country studio recordings.

All the live versions are in Em so I've tabbed this in Em which is an
easier key to play in. If you want to play along with the studio versions
you'll need to transpose everything up by a semi-tone.

Note that the CM7 is not a Cm7 or a C7. Nice chord. See bottom
of page for chord shapes and also for Bruce's part for the verses.

Intro:

There are two ways to play this. The first is the way Stuart plays
it using the B string as a drone;

A|------------------|---------------|------------|--------|
E|------------------|---------------|------------|--------|

Here's the alternative intro without the drone which works fine
as long as you have a second guitar to play the Em. Personally I think
this sounds better but please yourself;

Verse 2: (same as verse 1)
Meanwhile in the great indoors, pizza boxes on the floor
Prescription junkies pass the day
TV actors screw around, wrapped in silk and dressing gowns
A grown up drama for a day

Chorus:
Oh you dreamer

Oh you dreamer
Is this the better world that you were making all those plans for

You know there’s house on Victory Street, Where no one wipes their feet
A car is rusting in the yard
Mommy scrubs and daddy scores, Keeps his stash beneath the floor
Under the bed of baby blue

Get me a guide book, get me a map
Not even Indiana Jones could deal with that
The tank is empty, a wheel came off.
How can someone find me if no one knows I’m lost
Hey if no one knows I’m lost

Oh you dreamer
Is this the way that you believed your life was gonna turn out
Oh you dreamer
Is this the better world that you were making all those plans for

Repeat & fade.

There's a lead part through the final choruses & fade which they
don't play live and I can't be bothered tabbing it. It's easy
to work out though, being based around the notes of Break 1.

Bruce's guitar during the verse is;
