Song: Legend of the Rent Artist: Jack Black Tabber: pooponabagel This song was on the movie School of Rock. Great movie, every rock fan/comedy fan should see it. Anywho, Im 90 percent sure this tab is right, but i'm not completely sure. Actually, make that 91.73 percent sure ;). I only saw the movie once, and they didn't even make the whole song. So this is the song Dewey sings, and eventually plays, when the kids ask him what his song is. The intro might be a bit wrong, but I'm sure the verses and chorus is right. key: / slide h hammer on p pulloff ~ let note ring Dewey: In the end of time-----There was a man who knew the road e/------------------------------------------------------------ b/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ g/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ d/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a/-----9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ e/------------------------------------------------------------ Dewey: And the writing--was written on the stone e/------------------------------------------- b/--------------7~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 g/--------------7~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 d/--------------7~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 a/--------------5~~~~~~~~~~~~7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9- e/------------------------------------------- Dewey: In the ancient time-----an artist led the way e/----------------------------------------------------- b/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ g/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ d/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a/-----9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ e/----------------------------------------------------- Dewey: But no one--seemed to understand e/------------------------------------ b/----------7~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 g/----------7~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 d/----------7~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 a/----------5~~~~~~~~7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9- e/------------------------------------ Dewey: In his heart he knew-----The artist must be true e/----------------------------------------------------- b/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ g/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ d/-----11~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a/-----9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ e/----------------------------------------------------- Dewey: But the legend--of the rent was way past due e/------------------------------------------------- b/---------------7~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 g/---------------7~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 d/---------------7~~~~~~~~~~~~~9~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11 a/---------------5~~~~~~~~~~~~~7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9- e/------------------------------------------------- bridge from intro to verses e/----------------- b/----------------- g/9-7-7------------ d/---9-9-7-9-7-7--- a/------------9-9-7 e/----------------- Verses: bass/drums come in, guitar is going faster Dewey: Well you think that youll be just FINE! e/------------------------------------------- b/------------------------------------------- g/--------------9--9--9--9--9--9--9--9--9~~~~~ d/--------------9--9--9--9--9--9--9--9--9~~~~ a/--------------7--7--7--7--7--7--7--7--7~~~~ e/------------------------------------------- Dewey: Without me but you're MINE! e/------------------------------- b/------------------------------- g/----------7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7~~~~ d/----------7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7~~~~ a/----------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5~~~~ e/------------------------------- Dewey: Because you just--can't--kick--me out of the band! e/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- b/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- g/---------------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7---7/9-9-9-9-9-9-9-7/9-9-9-9-9-9-9 d/---------------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7---7/9-9-9-9-9-9-9-7/9-9-9-9-9-9-9 a/---------------3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5---5/7-7-7-7-7-7-7-5/7-7-7-7-7-7-7 e/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the same riff keeps playing on the guitar, and Dewey sings: Well theres just one problem there. THIS SOLO WAS COMPLETELY MADE UP BY ME* during the solo, the other guitar completely stops (the one that was playing during the verses and chorus) its pretty easy e/-----/12-10---12p11p10-12p11p10-12p11p10-12p11p10-15-------------------------- b/------------------------------------------------------------------------------ g/------------------------------------------------------------------------------ d/-5--2------------------------------------------------2-2-2-2-2-5---2-2-2-2-2-5 a/-5--2------------------------------------------------2-2-2-2-2-5---2-2-2-2-2-5 e/-3--0------------------------------------------------0-0-0-0-0-3---0-0-0-0-0-3 e/-----------------------------------3------------------------ b/-----/5-3---3p4p5-3p4p5-3p4p5-3p4p5------------------------- g/------------------------------------------------------------ d/-5--7-------------------------------2-2-2-2-2-5--2-2-2-2-2-5 a/-5--7-------------------------------2-2-2-2-2-5--2-2-2-2-2-5 e/-3--5-------------------------------0-0-0-0-0-3--0-0-0-0-0-3 e/----/12-12---12-12-10--10---------------------- b/---------------------12--12-10-12-10--10------- g/------------------------------------12--12-10-9 d/-5-2------------------------------------------- a/-5-2------------------------------------------- e/-3-0------------------------------------------- then you go back to the verses and chorus. They didn't have any more verses or choruses in the song, but I'm assuming they would have had some more. Whew! I'm done. That was the longest tab i've done yet!
