Not as well known as the Raiders' version, but just about as good. I do 
believe that
this is the first top 40 appearence of this song, although John D. 
Loudermilk wrote
it sometime earlier in the 60's. The Raiders' arrangement appears to be 
based on
this, since Loudermilks' original is not much like this version. Both Don 
Fardon and
the Raiders cut out and added some lyrics (luckily for us they both cut out 
the part
where Loudermilk starts shouting some Indian jibberish).

The Raiders' version is somewhere between C#m and Dm.
