He often plays it with Jack Lawrence and T. Michael Coleman, and usually plays the melody at a steady 4/4 tempo a few times, then plays it in cut-time and makes his fingers work in a dizzying fashion. Practice this slowly, if you take your time and learn it, it will sound close to the way it's played on the album. Once you've got it up to a steady pace, try and speed it up a little, it's a GREAT finger workout. I'll break it into sections, each section is played twice before moving into the next one. The entire song is played in an up-down-up-down strumming motion that works well if you try it with your entire arm just like Doc Watson does. This is a flatpicking classic, and one that every guitarist should hear. Enjoy it.
