When creating a riff and you are stuck and you don't know where to go from, you can add a pattern to take you into another riff. A pattern can use any notes on any string anywhere on the fret board as long as they fit the pattern. -Here is a pattern (* signifies note) G|-----| D|-*-*-| A|-*-*-| E|-----| Some Eamples Would Be... G|---------|---------|-----1-3-| D|-----3-5-|---------|-1-3-----| A|-3-5-----|-----5-7-|---------| E|---------|-5-7-----|---------| As long as you play the low string first then move the the high string it will fit. -Another Pattern (* signifies note) G|-----| D|-*---| A|-*-*-| E|-----| So Some Examples Would Be... G|-------|-------|-----1-| D|-----3-|-------|-1-3---| A|-3-5---|-----5-|-------| E|-------|-5-7---|-------| -One More Pattern (* signifies note) G|------| D|--*---| A|-**-*-| E|------| Some Examples... G|---------|---------|-------1-| D|-------3-|---------|-0-1-3---| A|-2-3-5---|-------5-|---------| E|---------|-4-5-7---|---------| This Pattern Can Also Be Played Another Way... G|---------|---------|-----1---| D|-----3---|---------|-0-1---3-| A|-2-3---5-|-----5---|---------| E|---------|-4-5---7-|---------|
