Patchwork Quilt
Music & Lyrics: Warren Haynes
Written by Warren Haynes in memory of Jerry Garcia,
and played with Phil & Friends.

Tab by: "pqskiteam", tommy_hardball@yahoo.com, March 24, 2004

Note:
The “thing” I labeled as D>Db>C – D – A at various point in the song,
starts with a regular D barre chord on the 5th fret then he brings the
A string down to the 4th fret, then plays a C, waits a beat or two,
pulls back to a D then onto and holds an A.
I didn’t really know how to tab it out officially,
but I think you can get the idea...

This is a great, beautiful song...enjoy.
Please update with any changes you feel need to be made.

Intro:
F#m – E – A (2x)
F#m – D>Db>C – D – A

I never knew you
D>Db Bm
But then who really did?
F#m E
If you were at all like me
F#m B
You managed to keep yourself hid

Chorus:
D E
A patchwork quilt of a life
D>Db
Memories embroidered
C>D A
On your soul

It's a patchwork quilt of a life

Can't stop the river

Just let it roll

Bridge:
F#
We were at Jones Beach
E A
When we got the word
F#m E	A
Saddest sound that I ever heard
F#m A	B
The bluest note that nobody could play
F#m E	A
Ravens sang with us that night on the stage
F#m E	A
Tears of sadness, tears of rage
F#m D>Db
But nobody spoke, we all felt old
C>D A
And in the way

Jam: (just like a verse with a chorus)
C#m
D>Db	Bm
F#m	E
F#m	B
D	E
D>Db>C – D – A

Verse III:
C#m
So walk beside me
D>Db Bm
Or above me, I don't know

These days it sure seems
F#m B
I'm lost whereever I go

Bridge II?:
F#m E	A
God, how could you, I heard someone say
F#m E	A
And what do we do with our lives now anyway?
F#m A	B
Now that our North Star can no longer be found
F#m E	A
But there's a banjo moon in a tie-dyed sky
F#m E	A
Hippies dance and babies cry
F#m A	B
Church bells ring as a silver-haired angel look down
	D E Db?
And the blood of his music runs through the veins of our guitars
D Bm
Bright lights, Dark Star

End:
C#m
I never knew you
D>Db Bm
But then who really did
F#m E
If you were at all like me
F#m B
You managed to keep yourself hid
