Part One - Basic Rock Beats This first one should get you onto the basic drumming. Snare rolls can be used as a fill or during a Guitar riff. Fisrt of all is the most basic roll S |oooooooo|oooooooo|oooooooo|oooooooo| S |oooooooo|oooooooo|oooooooo|oooooooo| Next is a roll that can be used whenever you want during a solo or it could be the basis of a solo. S |o--ooo-o|oo-oooo-|o--ooo-o|oo-oooo-| S |o--ooo-o|oo-oooo-|o--ooo-o|oo-oooo-| The paraldille is a way that you can get a different volume just by using a different hand. learn the below partern. play it over and over again to get it right. R L R R L R L L S |o-o-o-o-|o-o-o-o-| another way to increase the volume is to hit the snare harder. this is shown with a larger 'O'. S |OoooOooo|OoooOooo|OoOoOoOo|OoOoOoOo| also you can hit the base drum to make it louder like this: S |oooooooo|oooooooo|oooooooo|oooooooo| B |o---o---|o---o---|o---o---|o---o---| also you make a rool quiter by using ghost notes. thes are noted as a 'g' S |gggggggo|gggggggo|gggggggo|gggggggo| now its time to try a roll from a sollo done by travis barker (even though i hate the guy). its full of ghost notes, bass drums and crashes, which are various technquies in the roll dynamics. this may take a while to learn as it's twice as fast as any thing in the lesson so far.
