This is a rag in the key of E that was taught to me by Steve James, who learned it from Sam McGee himself. Steve plays this song on his first CD, entitled "Two Track Mind". A great album, IMHO. The tab here probably does not correspond note for note with the album version, since I have never gone and tried to match up the version I learned with the album. But all ofthe chords are correct. The Sam McGee version is much more sparse than the Steve James version. In Steve's words, "Sam leaves much to the imagination, whereas I leave absolutely nothing to the imagination". :-) This song is not very complicated, but is great fun to play. There are only two sections, and the order they are played in is: A A B A A B A A B A A B .... until you are blue in the fingers. :-) Notice that the majority of the fingerings up at the 5th, 7th, and 9th frets are just the top notes of your basic E form and A form chords. This helps visualize what chord you want to grab. Also note that the first position B7 fingering is often just slid up to the 3rd and 4th frets to get the C7 and C#7. AFWIW, I think the roll at the 2nd ending of part A is the coolest one I've ever learned.
