Subject: TAB:Peter Lang's"RC Rag"

Hi folks....

Not sleeping well these nights??....are you restless?......
disgruntled?......is there *something* that is just not
right?......is it because your guitar playing for the last
week or so has sounded like *dog squeeze*?........
......is it because (like me) Bruce Head's tab for
"Airproofing II" has been kicking your butt??.....is
that infernal tune driving you nuts?....do you hum it
at work...en route to work...on the way home from
work...ad nauseaum........
.........Well, *rejoice*........relief is at hand!!!!......
yes......before you is a tune that you can *actually*
play!!!.....with very little effort I might add.....the time
has come for those of us who, in no small measure
due to Bruce's tab, had just about decided that
perhaps we should take up bowling and give up
our futile attempt to learn "Airproofing II'.....
........perhaps even considered giving up the
guitar as a means of relaxation.

So......pull your Home and Away video out of the
VCR or your Shout Toward Noon out of the recorder.
Pop in "RC Rag" and give yourself a break....discover
that fact that...yes indeed, you actually *can* play the
guitar....
......you say you don't *have* a copy of "RC Rag"??
....well, damn...I *hate it* when that happens!! *
.......oh well, too much sleep is bad for you....and
I hear bowling is actually lots of fun.......

(Charlie..your copy of RC Rag will be en route this
week....Patrick?...don't remember if I sent you one.
Scott and Bruce...know you have. Dave and John
...not sure. Dean??...dunno......Liz?....know you
have but of course you will insist its played in Open
G so it really doesn't matter! :-)

Standard Tuning
Capo (your choice...I forgot how
      Peter did it...sorry about that!)

This is the basic structure of the tune. I’ve
purposely left out the hammer-on’s/pulloffs/
slides played in 1st position on 3rd string.
This will aid in learning the basic
syncopation of the tune....then go back and
fill in the *bells and whistles* (h/p/s etc).
I think you’ll get the idea when you listen
to the tune....which is a must to get the
feel for the tune.
Note the *double thumb* lead in...a’la Blind
Blake in measure 1, 2, 3, etc..it comes quick!
Peter dampens a lot of the notes around the
syncopation...particularly C7 and D7 chords.
He played it with fingerpicks which gives a
staccato effect...and he didn’t play with his
right hand ring finger...my kinda guy! :-)

( ) Alternative notes that can/should be
played in lieu of tabbed note
I Index finger
M Middle finger

Repeats from the top...about 3 times
through....short tune, only slightly
longer than a minute on the recording.

End tag...not on recording...I ripped this
off from some other long forgotten tune.
Emphasize the notes on 4th string.
